Andy Ricker of Pok Pok, Ping and Pok Pok Noi fame, has announced that he will be opening a new restaurant in the space now occupied by Kappaya at 33rd and Division st.
…we will be opening a new casual restaurant there based on something called “raan khao kaeng” in Thai: basically a curry-on-rice house featuring dishes such as Kaeng Som (spicy southern Thai style), Kaeng Naw Mai Dong, Kaeng Kiaw Waan Kai, Kaeng Om Neua, Kaeng Kati Tap Neua and maybe even some standards such as Kaeng Phet Pet Yaang, using our duck oven to roast the ducks. Also, a dedicated Khanom Jiin station offering 3 or 4 different sauces to top the noodles with.
Andy also notes that Pok Pok Noi will begin serving lunch again on weekends beginning September 24th. Finally, he confirms the rumor that he is looking for a space in Red Hook Brooklyn to open an East coast branch of Pok Pok.

Hopefully there will be quality control. I wonder if this means the end for us PDX’ers!
They’ll soon be renaming SE Division Street to SE Ricker Street.
