Bunk Bar to Expand? Yard House Opening Downtown, and 36 Hours in Portland

I heard a rumor today that Tommy Habetz is planning on opening Bunk Bar LA, as in Los Angeles. They are looking for a site near downtown, with a goal of opening next year. I am told a LA based investor is providing the money behind the venture. Future plans include New York City and Chicago.

I contacted Tommy about this, and got a firm “no comment at this point”.

This from Oregon Live, The Yard House, a national chain of restaurants, is planning on opening a Portland Branch in the old Saks Fifth Avenue space in the Pioneer Place Mall. I’ve never heard of them either. You can read the details here.

According to Willamette Week, Artemis Cafe has closed (though the catering business will continue). According to OLCC licenses, the new tenant will be a sandwich shop called Double Dragon. Here’s a link to the WW story.

The New York Times has written yet another Portland Roundup. Restaurants mentioned include Biwa, Miho, Mirakutei, Cabezon, Broder, PorQueNo, Le Pigeon, Lovely Fifty Fifty, and (the regrettably named) Grain and Gristle.

take away all the odd sounding French beer and add PBR and Old German. Hire only surly bartenders and have the crappy Timbers(even if it’s a repeat)air on all tv’s, all the time.
