It never occurred to me that there would be enough events on Christmas Eve for a post, but I’ve been getting lots of emails from readers, so I decided to write a quick roundup of dinners in the Portland area.
Andina is open Christmas Eve with the full dinner menu and live music by the Danny Romero Trio from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Closed on Christmas Day.
Bar Avignon -
Christmas Eve Prix Fixe Menu. In addition to our regular menu we will be offering a prix fixe menu from 4pm – 9pm. 503-517-0808
The Berlin Inn -
Closed Christmas Eve, but open Christmas day, with a selection of specials including a traditional oven-roasted goose dinner. 403-236-6761
Cafe Nell -
It’s hard to beat celebrating Christmas Eve in front of the fireplace sipping a hot toddy, but the guys at Cafe Nell may have topped it. How about celebrating Christmas Eve in front of the fireplace sipping a hot toddy, with no grocery shopping and kitchen clean up? Tuck into Cafe Nell this Christmas Eve and enjoy warm winter dishes from Chef Andrew Garrett in a gorgeous, celebratory holiday atmosphere. Duck under the mistletoe, the door is open from 11 am – 9 pm on December 24th.
Not Christmas Eve, but notable – an authentic Basque Cider House Dinner on December 22nd and 23rd complete with cider or wine. The Basque Cider House Dinner will be served family style with one seating at 7 p.m. 503-231-7373

Prix fixe menu in the dining room starting at 2 p.m. and a grand holiday buffet with seatings from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the second4 floor mezzanine. The grand buffet is $52 per adult and $18 per child under 12 and the prix fixe dinner is $52 for adults and $18 per child under 12. 503-790-7752

Open until 8pm.
We’ll feature several special holiday menu items that evening, but for those of you that want to keep it simple, don’t worry, Lincoln standards like hanger steak with blue cheese butter and onion rings and roasted chicken with shoestring potatoes will still be available as well. 503-288-6200
Ned Ludd -
a Dickens inspired Christmas Eve feast, Friday December 24th. For those of you not familiar, ” A Christmas Carol” was originally written in five stanzas. The story is one of magic, mystery, transformation and redemption and we have crafted a five course tasting menu that celebrates this timeless classic with a traditional British holiday feast. 503-288-6900

Park Kitchen -
a minimum of decisions in exchange for a maximum of enjoyment. There will be 2 choices; a 4 course prix fix for $65 or a 4 course chef’s tasting menu for $55. Open for dinner from 4 – 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day inspired fare—such as Chef’s pineapple and maple roasted Oregon pork loin and a roasted squash soup with lobster crepe in addition to the a la carte menu.
