Thirst Bistro Opening New Restaurant in Carafe/Market Space

New Restaurant and Bar to Open on Friday, May 17th and Offer Approachable Food with a French Flair

Portland, Oregon – March 21, 2013 – Bistro Marquee (@BistroMarquee), a new restaurant and bar located at 200 SW Market Street in downtown Portland’s Theater District, will open for business on Friday, May 17th it was announced today.

Bistro Marquee is owned and operated by Gary Kneski and Leslie Palmer owners of the successful Thirst Bistro. Now in its 8th year of operation, Thirst Bistro is located on the RiverPlace Esplanade on the waterfront.

Bistro Marquee will offer a flavorful lunch and dinner menu with a variety of local ingredients. Award-winning chef and reigning Portland Iron Chef winner Rick Widmayer will serve as the Executive Chef of Bistro Marquee. “Look for a refined approach to classic French and New American cuisine highlighting local meats, seafood and of course amazing produce,” said Widmayer. “Bistro Marquee will utilize local and seasonal produce from Viridian Farms, Creative Growers and Sauvie Island Organics.”

The bistro will be open for lunch Monday through Friday with express lunch options available for pick-up and delivery for neighboring businesses.

Dinner will be served Monday through Saturday. Free valet parking will be offered to diners after 5:00pm.

“We are in the perfect location to embrace the neighboring businesses and residents as well as theatre-goers and tourists,” said Bistro Marquee owner Leslie Palmer. “Our food and drink menu will be approachable, yet interesting with a wide variety of options.”

Bistro Marquee will offer a robust Happy Hour menu from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the bar and outside patio. “We will offer local and imported wines, microbrews and creative cocktails as well as a happy hour food menu that will be fun and original,” said Bistro Marquee owner Gary Kneski.

In a nod to its location in Portland’s Theater District, Bistro Marquee will offer Prix Fixe dinners on show night that align with the theme and flavors of the show playing at Keller Auditorium.

The new restaurant and bar will also embrace the businesses in the adjacent buildings with fun contests, business themed cocktails and lunch specials voted on by the building tenants.

  1. Well at least they’ve had sense enough this time to hire a chef, instead of Leslie doing the cooking! Though who knows how long he’ll last
