Rock Creek Tavern is off the beaten path, and on more than one occasion I have agreed to meet friends here, and they’ve gotten confused and gone to Cornelius Pass Roadhouse. Though the food is typical McMenamins, this is one of the nicest escapes around, and I go here now and then when I need a nice drive. There is a patio out front (not affected by the road at all), and another one you reach through the restaurant by going upstairs. Both great, both shady.
