Pet Peeves in Dining Service and Catching Up on News

By PDX Food Dude Last Update May 13, 2017

Portland Food & Drink is the best source for online menus, news on restaurant openings, and snarky, user-penned feedback." In October, New York Magazine ran an article called Play in Portland's Shadows. I have no idea why this just popped up in my linkback list, but the Related Links section made me laugh. Portland Food & Drink is the best source for online menus, … [Read more...] about Pet Peeves in Dining Service and Catching Up on News

Chef Stu Stein Gossip Spreads (and more!)

By PDX Food Dude Last Update May 13, 2017

Updated: Statement from Terroir's ex-PR firm: The Willamette Week is reporting that Terroir Restaurant and Wine Bar has closed. Much like Cole, we were not aware of the status of Terroir's operations as we had ceased representation of Terroir in late '07. Chef Stu Stein – Is Terroir Restaurant Circling the Drain?

By PDX Food Dude Last Update May 13, 2017

We haven't heard much lately about the follies of accused plagiarist Chef Stu Stein, and his restaurant Terroir, although we've heard plenty of rumors that the restaurant is struggling. {TERROIR IS NOW CLOSED - 2.08}By Nancy RommelmannMy neighborhood, near Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Fremont Ave., is not exactly teeming with restaurants. Unless you walk up to Mississippi, there’s Pizza a Go Go and the Fifth Quadrant, both on Williams, and on MLK, a Popeye’s, a new Subway, and, a little bit south, Tiny’s and Echo. All these places slant … [Read more...] about Review: Terroir Restaurant

How Not to Open a Restaurant – Terroir in Portland

By PDX Food Dude Last Update May 12, 2017

I've had better hors d'oeuvre at Radisson and Holiday Inn Convention Centers near suburban airports, than was served at Terroir the other night. The new Portland restaurant Terroir, has some of the worst food I've experienced in some time. If their opening is any indication of what the kitchen is going to pull off on a regular basis, they really are in trouble.  In addition, … [Read more...] about How Not to Open a Restaurant – Terroir in Portland
