By PDX Food Dude Last Update June 20, 2016 Leave a Comment

Food and Wine HaikuThe 2016 food and drink haiku has come to a close.

This year, the winning entry – received two tickets to Counter Culture 2016 at Anne Amie Vineyards in Carlton Oregon. Each year, they kick off the International Pinot Noir Celebration with a pre-IPNC event, Counter Culture: A Celebration of Urban Street Food and International Wines. The tickets include a shuttle from Portland and back.

The runner up received a chicken dinner from Fusspot Chicken, which  serves $10 plates of Korean-inspired fried chicken on the bone with sesame slaw and a gochujang-based spicy sauce. The fried chicken pop-up is at Kitchen Cru, NW Flanders & Park, every other Saturday 5-7p.  The next one is on July 2nd.

The winning entry is from Lori Hoyle with 49%, 250 Votes:

    It seems like eons
Since sweet juice ran down my chin
    Hurry tomato

The runner up was “GoodCookie” 42%, 217 Votes:

    Darkness slowly melts
    Silken earth against my tongue
    Sweet forest flavors

I wish I had a runner runner up prize, as this one was only 17 votes away:

    Cold, creamy crystals
    Aromatic orchid bean.
    Summer in a cone! (39%, 200 Votes)

Thanks to everyone who entered! As usual, it was a great contest.
