Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy:

PortlandFoodandDrink.com (“PFD“) operates portlandfoodanddrink.com and may operate other websites. It is PortlandFoodandDrink’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites. This policy takes effect on May 23rd, 2018.

Contact Form

Data Used: Comment form submission data — IP address, user agent, name, email address, website, and message — is submitted to the Akismet service for the sole purpose of spam checking. The actual submission data is stored in the database of portlandfoodanddrink.com. This email will include the submitter’s IP address, timestamp, name, email address, website, and message.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of PFD. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the PFD available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

For more information on the privacy practices of Google, please visit the Google Privacy Terms web page: http://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/

Sharing

Data Used: When sharing content via email (this option is only available if Akismet is active on the site), the following information is used: sharing party’s name and email address (if the user is logged in, this information will be pulled directly from their account), IP address (for spam checking), user agent (for spam checking), and email body/content. This content will be sent to Akismet (also owned by Automattic) so that a spam check can be performed. Additionally, if reCAPTCHA (by Google) is enabled by the site owner, the sharing party’s IP address will be shared with that service. You can find Google’s privacy policy here.

Subscriptions

Data Used: To initiate and process subscriptions, the following information is used: subscriber’s email address and the ID of the post or comment (depending on the specific subscription being processed). In the event of a new subscription being initiated, we also collect some basic server data, including all of the subscribing user’s HTTP request headers, the IP address from which the subscribing user is viewing the page, and the URI which was given in order to access the page. This server data used for the exclusive purpose of monitoring and preventing abuse and spam.

Activity Tracked: Functionality cookies are set for a duration of 347 days to remember a visitor’s blog and post subscription choices if, in fact, they have an active subscription.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

PFD discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on PFD’s behalf or to provide services available at PFD’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using PFD’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. PFD will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, PFD discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when PFD believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of PFD, third parties or the public at large. PFD takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Business Transfers

If PFD, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that PFD goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and that any acquirer of PFD may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.

Ads

We are not currently adding cookies to ads appearing on any of our websites; they are simply outbound links. We do not target users or allow other companies to target users via cookies. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by PFD and does not cover the use of cookies externally by any advertisers.

Social Media

We no longer use social media share/like buttons such as those provided by Facebook or Twitter. There are enough trackers on the web without our adding to it.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, PortlandFoodandDrink may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in PFD’s sole discretion. PFD encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy.
