FILLS and Lac St. Jack are closing on November 23rd and October 29th respectively.
I’m not particularly surprised to hear about these closures. I always thought the location was odd and the parking could be a pain, but it’s still sad to see them go, as I enjoyed both. This makes me wonder about the fate of the other restaurants, Grassa, Lardo, and Oven and Shaker.
Here is the announcement with a few excerpts from their websites –
Au revoir Lake Oswego.
Lac St. Jack and FILLS are closing the doors to their Mercato Grove restaurants. Both businesses are proud of the work they did to bring a fresh offering to Lake Oswego, and build connections in the community. Each had success in many forms: delicious food, fun events, good branding, and community outreach. The simple reality is that neither could get the traffic and sales needed to make it work financially at Mercato Grove. The teams at each restaurant are grateful for regulars, friends and neighbors they’ve met along the way and hope to see you before they close the doors for good.Lac St. Jack last day is Saturday, October 29 –
Sadly, Lac St Jack will be closing our doors for the last time at the end of October. Our final service in Mercato Grove will be Saturday, October 29th. We will be open Tuesday – Saturday for the duration of the month. We’ve built some great relationships in the community, and to those friends we’ve made along the way – we’re sorry to say goodbye. Please come see us in Portland at the original St Jack and La Moule.
Above all, we are incredibly proud of the team that built this entity from the ground up. You put your heart and effort into making this place special, and you’ll always be a part of the St Jack family.
Quite simply, we just never acquired the volume we needed to sustain this business. As this is a difficult time for our staff, we humbly request that you refrain from asking them about why we’re closing. Rather, we hope you wish them luck in the next leg of their journey.
We’re excited to have the opportunity to say adieu over the next few weeks and hope you come in for a few laughs, some libations, and to celebrate our abbreviated – but memorable – time in Lake (Lac) Oswego.

FILLS last day is Wednesday, November 23 –
Dear Friends, FILLS is closing the doors to the Mercato Grove shop. Our last day open will be Wednesday, November 23.We’re so proud of our berliners, our customer service, and the community we’ve built. Because of this, we have no regrets! We gave it our all in many forms: events, marketing, branding, product development, fundraisers, donations, volunteerism, and beyond.
The simple reality is that we could not get the traffic we needed to make it work financially.
This decision is hard, and this is an emotional time for our staff. Here’s our request: instead of asking the staff why we’re closing, lift them up by sharing a memory, or make a new one before we go!
In the coming weeks, FILLS is participating in events, fundraisers, and benefit days. Keep an eye on our instagram for special events (like @snackfest and @yeseteryearpumpkinsandtrees popups) so you can GET YOUR FILLS!
