John Gorham to Take Over Former Nutshell Space

February 9, 2010 by PDX Food Dude 10 Comments

John Gorham to open new concept “Tasty & Sons” on North Williams

News IconBack in November, John Gorham, owner of the extremely popular (and readers favorite) Toro Bravo, was poised to open a breakfast place called Tasty & Sons in the Wonder Ballroom restaurant space. At the last minute, plans changed. Instead, the new restaurant will go into the Nutshell/Anju space on N. Williams.

According to John, “We are going for a quick build-out and hope to be open in a month. We are going to do brunch 7 days a week, and after the dust settles we are going to open in the evenings with a burger-focused menu.”

If anyone can make the space work, John is the guy. I look forward to seeing what he can do. Gorham is planning to specialize in food not normally found in Portland breakfast places. As you may remember, he had quite a bit of experience with brunches, while cooking at Simpatica.

Intriguing… It’ll be nice to have another breakfast/brunch option in the ‘hood.

I’m kind of exciting but I don’t think Christ could make this site work but I’ll keep my fingers crossed it sounds interesting.

That was sort of my thought on the Wonder Cafe space. We only ate there once, but IIRC the space had really low ceilings and was really broken up into lots of strange little alcoves.

The Toro Bravo burger is one of the best in town. Love to have another place to sample it.

This is going to make it difficult to find parking for Ristretto in the mornings!

Wow another breakfast place that will soon serve burgers! Can’t say I’m to excited about this. I hope the burger thing isn’t a trend for 2010.
