Yakuza is closing, but will live on elsewhere as “Yakuza Ghost Kitchen”.
From their news release –
This year has brought some pretty extreme changes to us all. While some have been harder than others to swallow, we are excited to announce one change that is much more delicious. Starting September 1st, Yakuza Izakaya will be handing over the keys to its long time home at 5411 NE 30th Ave, to our new friend and neighbor: Cyrus Ichiza of Ichiza Kitchen! They specialize in Pan Asian, Buddist temple cuisine, fine teas and Japanese whiskeys. We’re thrilled to welcome this innovative restaurant to the community!
Self-serve seating is offered in an open-air outdoor atmosphere, located in our 30th Street plaza.
We are so grateful for the years spent feeding you at Yakuza and are looking forward to carrying in the Yakuza Ghost Kitchen for all your take out and small party catering needs.
You can see the rest of the Yakuza notification here.
Ichiza Kitchen is currently located at 1628 SW Jefferson St. In Goose Hollow. A source tells me that store will remain open.
According to its website, “Ichiza Kitchen offers vegan pan-Asian cuisine and rare oolong teas in an intimate environment.” Their current beverage menu has a strong focus on Oolong and green tea, and Sake. Food consists of a selection of small dishes such as chili oil wontons, kimchi gyoza, shumai, and turnip cakes. Four “Big Bowls” are available, currently their version of adobo, Mapo tofu, Ichiza noodle soup, and chirashi donburi.
