The Pleasure of Your Company is Requested

September 12, 2013 by PDX Food Dude Leave a Comment

I liked this press release, so thought I’d post it to the main feed!

Do you love watching the PBS hit show, “Downton Abbey”? Are you counting the moments until Season 4 begins? Quell your impatience with an elegant evening of food and wine at In Good Taste.

After exploring the traditions of an English kitchen, you’ll spend the evening learning Mrs. Patmore’s secrets for English country fare – Downton Abbey style. Dine on fabulous cuisine fit for the Earl of Grantham, complete with perfect wine accompaniments, while learning the secrets behind cooking like Mrs. Patmore. The class will be taught by two charming ladies from England, Tina Boughey and Jennifer Mills, who have their own refined pedigrees.

Tina and Jenny both live in the historic city of Worcester sitting on the banks of the River Severn. They share a great love of England and its many cultural and historic traditions, and they would like to share their passion with you. Both Tina and Jenny have run highly successful cookery schools in England, America and Italy. Lifelong friends, they studied at college together, training in the gourmet food and hospitality industry. They now host tours of the Cotswolds, an extremely scenic area of England, which include private tours of Highclere Castle, where Downton Abbey is filmed. A highlight of this tour is a “Downton Abbey dinner” hosted in a private home.

The evening’s menu includes Salmon Mousse Toasts, Hot Crab Toasts, Highclere Chicken with Herb Infused Sauce, Sole Paupiettes with White Wine and Cream Sauce, A Roast Joint of Lamb with Anchovies and Capers, Duchess Potatoes, Quenelles of Carrot, Mrs. Patmore’s Floating Raspberry Meringues and assorted Fruit and Chocolates.

Guests are invited to dress in the style of the period.

This will be a demonstration format event, with ample time for questions and instructor- student interaction. The class will be held at In Good Taste in Lake Oswego. To register, or for more information, please call 503.248.2015

About Tasting England

Tasting England has been organizing private epicurean tours to England for many years and has a wonderful insight into what makes a trip special; the quiet back-water beauty spots off the beaten track, away from the main hustle-bustle of the tourist trail, where they capture the Real England. Tasting England gives you a true ‘taste’ of the real beauty, culture and quality of a much forgotten time and place.
