I said last year that “I’m not particularly interested in vegetarian restaurants”. Now that I’ve tried Natural Selections, I’ve changed my tune a bit. I found the food there quite interesting and inventive.
The total number of people who vote in this category always interests me. In 2011 it got 428 votes, 450 in 2012 and this year it received 560 votes. I’m not sure if this means people are trying to eat a more healthy diet, or Portland vegetarian restaurants have stepped up their game. Notable by its absence is The Farm Cafe, which received no votes. Also notable is the inclusion of Prasad located in Yoga Pearl, which is completely new.

The Farm isn’t quite as vegetarian-focused as they used to me – more meaty entrees have popped up on the menu, and they discontinued their popular tofu marsala. Still plenty of options, but I wouldn’t think of it as a “vegetarian restaurant.”
