Poem iconHere is the final outcome:

As voted by our readers –

    • One hundred choices,
      A month with thirty-one days…
      Is “Second Lunch” gauche?
    • I remember when
      one hundred good restaurants
      Portland did not have
    • Park Kitchen’s my choice
for a dinner in the spring
      I will write for food
    • It’s been eight years, Babe
      Oregon’s winter is tough
      A date would be nice
    • Stomach’s been sated
after those shared small plates. Yet –
      Mouth waters for more.
    • Taste buds will awake
Gather friends with food and drink
      Shake off winter’s blues
    • (tied with above)
      Portland I love you
      Filling my belly with pride
      Quenching my parched lips
    • Locavores seeking
      Indigenous nourishment
      Rejoice at Portland
    • June – so long to wait
now March is for my taste buds
      Savory and sweet
    • Park Kitchen springs from
      a wannabe doctor turned
      dishwashing ski bum.

Congratulations to all the finalists, and thank you to everyone who participated! There have been some terrific entries this year. The winner will receive a three-course dinner for two at Park Kitchen as part of Portland Dining Month,

Portland Dining Month is back for its fifth year, with a move to a new month and more restaurants than ever before. For all of March, over 100 restaurants are offering three-course dinner menus — including an appetizer, entrée and dessert — for just $29.

Damn, I’ve just published my own Food Haiku recently on my blog ‘The Good the Bad & The Italian’ and didn’t know about this contest. Mind you, I’m in Australia so would have found claiming the prize a bit difficult.
