    180 Xurros Returning!

By PDX Food Dude Last Update January 19, 2020 Leave a Comment

When 180 Xurros closed in June 2017 many people were crushed. The news that they are reopening downtown is a big enough deal that it deserves to be posted here.

Jose Chesa may have taken a few blows in the past with the closing of Chesa and 180, but he has landed on his feet in a big way, first by refocusing his energy on one of my favorite Portland restaurants, Ataula. Now he’s getting ready to open a new restaurant called Masia in the new Hyatt hotel. Tucked into one area he will be back 180 Xurros. Once again you’ll be able to stop by for hot out-of-the-fryer Xurros. which specializes in the crisp pastry called xurros, commonly known as “churros”. If you aren’t familiar with the name, they are strips of fried pastry dough, usually choux. They have a distinct star-shaped exterior from the pastry nozzle used to pipe them into the cooking oil. They will be served with housemade hot drinking chocolate, marshmallow cream, caramel/peanut butter sauce, along with coffee.

Here is the press release –
