March 1, 2012 by PDX Food Dude Leave a Comment

Chris over at Portland Food Adventures has scored a coup with a dinner at Greg and Gabrielle Denton’s new OX restaurant, which will be opening in the former Echo restaurant space at 2225 N.E. MLK Jr. Blvd.

According to OregonLive,

“The menu at Ox will focus on grilled meat and sides including risotto, potatoes and grilled vegetables. ‘There will be the traditional Argentine-style platter including sausage meat, bread, salad and chimichurri (the Argentine dipping sauce),’ Denton said. it includes “plans for a ring of bar seats with great sight-lines of a large, centrally placed grill and 20 seats in a back patio.

“My wife Gabrielle is from South America,” he said, “and we both have the passion for grilling. There’s a certain flavor when grilling foods that just can’t be compared, and you can take the simplest things and just make them taste incredible.”

Denton and Quiñonez-Denton met while cooking for chef Hiro Sone at Terra restaurant in St. Helena, Calif. After cooking in Maui for five years from 2002 to late 2007, the couple moved to Portland.” Most recently, the couple were at Metrovino. ChefStable owner Kurt Huffman is helping them bring their dream of an “Argentinian-inspired” grill to fruition.
