Armand Martinotti of Martinotti’s Deli Dies

October 27, 2008 by PDX Food Dude Leave a Comment

News today from a reader about the death of Armand Martinotti,

A sad note to touch on, long time Portland business owner Armand Martinotti of Martinotti’s Deli in downtown passed away on October 8. If you ever had the chance to talk to this man about wine and food, you will know we are all one of him in every way, linked to food and wine. The man was a wealth of knowledge about the food and wines of his homeland, Northern Italy, and everything in between. Our thoughts and prayers to Dixie (his wife) and his extended family. We raise our glasses to you Armand!!!”

Martinotti’s Italian Deli is a Portland institution. The family run Italian/European “general store” opened 35 years ago, and even now it has a steady stream of customers for the wine selection and the large deli. They stock lots of cooking ingredients, supplies and hard to find wines.
