Levant Restaurant Closing

The Oregonian dropped the bomb today that Levant, the "French-Arabesque" restaurant on NE Burnside is closing. Chef Scott Snyder says that the restaurant will close after service on New Year's Eve.I'm really sad to hear this news. Levant is in my top five favorite restaurants in Portland. Jose Chesa of Ataula Readies Portland’s 1st Xurreria for Opening

Jose Chesa of the excellent Spanish restaurant Ataula, is preparing to open his new restaurant, 180, which specializes in the crisp pastry called xurros, commonly known as "churros". Breakside Brewery to Open Slabtown Brewpub

Breakside Brewery has announced that they will be opening a new brewpub in Northwest Portland. According to the press release, the 5,000 square foot space in the historic Slabtown district will open summer of 2016 at the corner of NW 22nd and Raleigh, next to the New Seasons Marketplace. America's Test Kitchen founder Chris Kimball, has left the show, though since the 2016 season has already been filmed, the change won't be apparent for some time.
