Naomi Pomeroy To Appear on Iron Chef

By PDX Food Dude Last Update November 29, 2017 12 Comments

Naomi Pomeroy of Beast restaurant will appear on Iron Chef Show on June 27th 2010.

Naomi has been quite busy lately. Her press release which was issued last week has all the details, plus information on various magazine articles she will be appearing in.

    Televison

We don’t watch Television… But apparently that doesn’t mean you can’t BE on Television.

THIS SUNDAY JUNE 27th: Watch the Cooking Channel show “Foodography” Cookbook episode. Naomi creates a spin off recipe from the classic book The Joy Of Cooking.

IRON CHEF AMERICA: Although we haven’t been given a firm air date… Keep your eyes out for a  future announcement about our appearance. While we cannot reveal details, we will say that this is ONE OF THE BEST things we’ve ever participate in!!

(We promise to let you know the air date. . .and about the big party!!)

    Magazines

O-Magazine: In the MAY issue of O Magazine, there’s an article titled “10 Women on the Rise”. If you have an old copy sitting around, or happen to be at the dentist and see it, there’s a nice bio and picture of Naomi Pomeroy.

Marie Claire Magazine: In the upcoming October issue, Naomi Pomeroy will be featured in an article titled “Power Generation”. This feature will profile women who excel in fields traditionally dominated by men. The amazing, inspiring, and diverse women at the photo shoot made the whole experience a blast!

Travel and Leisure: Keep your eyes out for a piece on PDX written by a very, very cool gent named Adam Sachs. This should appear in the next few months.

“We don’t watch television or keep up with magazines, but if you’re at the dentist…”

Please. Either cop to the fact you’re excited or don’t mention it at all. What kind of snob puts down TV and the Oprah magazine while simultaneously sending out a press release advertising the fact she’s in them? How pretentious can you get?

Science hasn’t invented a machine that can measure the level of pretentiousness she resides at.

Wow…..I don’t think it was intended as snobbery. I do think it was nice to let the ‘fans’ know. Everyone likes to drop a name now and again. I would almost bet money these girls don’t read a magazine or watch TV. I’m sure they are happy to be busy and enjoy their accolades. Who wouldn’t?

      What’s up with the nastiness?

She was pretty awesome on that Foodography episode last night. Came across very personable, earnest and sweet, and made a wonderful looking lamb shank with demi glace.

Actually, not watching television is ignoring some of the best fiction in production today. I far prefer shows like Breaking Bad and Big Love to anything coming out of Hollywood.

Pomeroy being a chef that does prix fix plates and predetermined seating times it’ll be interesting to see if she can keep up with the speed and intensity of the Iron Chef format.

Still haven’t been to Beast yet, but having attended several of her “Sunday Suppers” at clarklewis, and having listened, each time, to what seemed like a half hour long pre-game speech about her personal relationships with her farmers, foodsheds and such, yada yada yada, I do have to say I detected more than a faint whif of, if not pretense, then at the very least a woman taking herself perhaps a bit seriously. Not that I begrudge her for being passionate about what she does, but there’s only so much I can take before my eyes start rolling involuntarily. That said, the gal can cook, more power to her. Her success is well deserved. Although I agree that the not so subtle dig at those who watch television and read magazines was a bit much. Perhaps when Iron Chef hands her her own ass, it’ll throw in a little humility at no extra charge…
