You have probably heard of Big Gay Ice Cream, as they have been featured on many food shows over the years, and their New York City and Philadelphia shops have been ranked as #5 best ice cream parlors in the world. This Saturday, July 18th, co-owner and co-found Bryan Petroff will be working in the Sunshine Tavern, using their in-house soft-serve machine to create desserts. The event is being held to celebrate the publication of their first cookbook,
with co-owner Douglas Quint, Big Gay Ice Cream Book: Saucy Stories & Frozen Treats: Going All The Way With Ice Cream. While this is only a one-day “pop-up”, it marks Big Gay Ice Cream’s first time bringing their ice cream to Portland.
The Big Gay Ice Cream desserts will be on the menu all day, including both brunch (12pm-5pm) and dinner (5pm-11pm) service. Restaurant hours and the reservation policy remain unchanged that day.
Signed copies of the cookbook will be available for purchase.
This is an especially exciting event for everyone involved. Jenn Louis’ “Magical Shell” recipe, which is on the menu at Sunshine Tavern, was included in Big Gay Ice Cream Book
