Davenport Now Open on East Burnside

November 14, 2013 by PDX Food Dude Leave a Comment

Kevin Gibson and Kurt Heilemann have officially opened their new restaurant “Davenport” in the former June space at 2215 E Burnside. You may remember Kevin from such hits as Evoe and Castagna, both on Hawthorne, and Kurt from his general manager position at clarklewis and wine program manager at Paley’s Place. They are open Tuesday – Saturday, starting at 3pm for the late lunch/afternoon nibbles crowd. There is beer wine and liquor, but they are focused heavily on the wine side of things.

According to Kurt, “The menu is going to change nearly every night, and based on local seasonal ingredients, but that isn’t really a description in this town, is it!

Basically there will be between 10-15 items, ranging from roughly $8-$18 per.  The plates are not meant to be anything in the traditional appetizer or entree style, but rather dishes that are meant to be shared with the table or something to make a small meal out of.  There will definitely be comparisons to Evoe, but with a full kitchen and dinner hours the menu will expand greatly over what Kevin had been doing there.”

Tonight’s menu will be along the lines of:

Cauliflower soup

salmon roe  9

Shigoku oysters   15

Crudo scallop, mache  14

Fritto misto cardoon, delicata, salsify, anchovy aioli  12

Roasted beets hazelnut, sheep milk ricotta  12

Braised leek matsutake  12

Seared scallop fennel, oyster mushroom  14

grilled radicchio hard boiled egg, anchovy, meyer lemon  12

baby octopus frisee, picholine  14

duck breast savoy, pomegranate  14

chicken thigh chanterelle gravy  13

cheese plate  10
