Le Vieux Restaurant for Sale, Fillmore Trattoria Taking Over

January 8, 2016 by PDX Food Dude 2 Comments

A liquor license from December, always a gold mine for people tracking the food scene, shows that the Le Vieux Restaurant is changing ownership. According to OLCC records, the new owners will be Fillmore Trattoria. There is an Italian restaurant in San Francisco named Jackson Fillmore Trattoria, and the liquor application shows a San Francisco phone number and that their manager is named Jack Krietzman, so these are the same people. The bay area restaurant has been in business for 30 years and gets a pretty good rating from OpenTable and Yelp. Here is their website, which is a terrific example of a lousy design – whatever happened to less is more? (Making friends wherever I go).

According to Eater, Le Vieux’s owners Annette Yang and chef Brian Leitner are negotiating the sale. “Yang confirms, “We’re doing our thing right up until the end—lovely food, ever-changing menus, caring people, attention to every detail.” Yang and Leitner also want to make sure their regular customers and staff have enough time to prepare for the transition. As for why Le Vieux is on the market, Yang says it’s mostly due to “inconsistent business,” and she cites family reasons and a potential move, too.”

The space used to house Noisette, which placed number 8 on our 2012 reader survey for Best New Restaurants in Portland. Le Vieux opened December 29th, 2014.
