Is Lincoln Restaurant for Sale?

September 14, 2016 by PDX Food Dude 7 Comments

Lincoln RestaurantThis is absolutely just a rumor, but a reader sent me a real estate listing today which sounds suspiciously like Lincoln Restaurant:

North Portland neighborhood dinner house. Inner North Portland corner location on one of the main streets, a great restaurant row, neighborhood favorite – the facility offered with this sale is one of the best in town. Beautifully well maintained with roll up doors, an open kitchen; open bar and stylish decor.

Lincoln owners Jenn Lewis and David Welch have apparently been having very public marital issues (which I chose not to report on). I have reached out for a comment.

Lincoln is at 3808 N Williams in Portland.

My husband and I went to Sunshine Tavern almost two weeks ago. The menu was less than half the size it had been. The server told it was happy hour all day (on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend). It felt very much like a restaurant ready to close its doors.

I’ve been going to Sunshine Tavern with a group of friends almost every week for many years. We’ve gotten to know a lot of the staff and heard a lot from them. In the last six months we’ve noticed many bad signs: closing early most weeknights, major staff turnover, smaller menu with no pizza, etc. I noticed this past Saturday that they weren’t even open for lunch. The staff always says that things are fine and they’re not closing but it doesn’t look good. It will be a sad day if they do close.

They’ve always been closed on Mondays but recently added Tuesdays as well. There were just 2-4 people in the restaurant when we walked by about 7:45 this evening.

Following Nino’s link, this looks a lot like Jenn’s Sunshine Tavern…
