Lorenzo’s Italian restaurant on Mississippi closed on the 11th, with a note on the door:
Dearest Friends,
You have come again to allow me to feed your bellies with my food, and yet the door is closed. I am so sorry to say, that I have chosen to retire my place here on Mississippi Ave. after 6 years. I have watched your children grow up, and I have seen the tough days we have all had in the past. I too have my children, and love my time with them. This move to close is to better my personal spirit, so please understand. My family is sad by this as much as you are too. If I did not live up to your standards – sorry. Should you feel the urge to eat, drink or chat with me, please feel free to call or email. Again, thank you.For all your support and letting me into your bellies
Lorenzo

Six years isn’t a bad run for a restaurant. Though I must say I’m always a bit bemused by the “I want to spend time with my children” comment. If you open a restaurant that serves dinner, you’ll be working swing shift, so that has to factor in to your plans.
It can’t have come as a surprise that this means time away from kiddies, no? Maybe he didn’t have kids when he started, and their arrival was a surprise?
Hmmmm.

I’ve known a few people that have gotten out of the industry to spend more time with their families. It’s why god made New Seasons.
Have you ever worked in a restaurant, let alone owned one? If “No” is the answer, then you may not know what you are talking about.

glad you are always bemused by someone choosing to spend time with their family. don’t think it really matters what business you’re in, if someone makes that decision to close a business for whatever reason you should respect that.
