Zukin’s Mi Mero Mole Opens Its Doors

By PDX Food Dude Last Update February 2, 2018 5 Comments

Famed food blogger Nick Zukin has followed his dream and opened Mi Mero Mole.

Mi Merlo Mole will focus on authentic food from Mexico City. One specialty will be Guisado – stews and stir-fries, a popular street food in that region. I started to list some of the extensive options but just decided to post the opening menu below.

Nick has made sure the choices include a large amount of vegetarian and vegan options. The full liquor license will round out your experience, with 7-8 beers, 9 specialty cocktails, etc. The restaurant has a nice comfortable, laid-back vibe. It’s located at 32 NW 5th Avenue in downtown Portland.

If there is one thing Nick is an expert at, it’s Mexican food. Congratulations to him for following his dream.

It is Mero not Merlo. I think it was good, I am excited to try it after some kink working out during the soft opening month. The cocktails are great and reasonably priced.

I lived in Mexico City many years ago, and ever since, have missed authentic Mexican cuisine. Looking forward to a meal there in the New Year. Congratulations to Nick.
