Rodney of Low BBQ to Open Podnah’s Pit BBQ

By PDX Food Dude Last Update May 8, 2017

For those who didn’t see the notice above, Rodney of Low BBQ fame is opening his own BBQ restaurant at NE 15th and Prescot, called Podnah’s Pit. If all goes well, it will open sometime in September. He’s built new equipment, and is aiming to reproduce his previous success. Rodney is well known from his popup Low BBQ in SE Portland

—————————–

If you are a frequent listener to NPR, you’ve probably heard stories by our own David Welch. He’s on a roll lately with some pieces that have local roots. The latest is about Tamara Murphy, chef and owner of Brasa and her recent mission of raising her own pigs for her restaurant. The Marketplace piece is fairly newsy stuff about sustainable conferences and convention centers. It is scheduled for NPr’s Day to Day (1-2pm in PDX on 91.5). David is a good writer, and his stories are well worth listening to. From what I hear, he’ll be running three more stories with Portland roots

So, where is Thatch going to be in NE PDX?

    Thanks,
    Ned

Thatch will be a couple doors down from Pour.

Why not combine Pour, Thatch and a strip bar and call it “Patch”?

So, what’s the latest on Padna’s/Podnah’s/Padnah’s? There seems to be a new coffee place in that center, but the corner store (which appears to be the only unoccupied space) still said “For Lease” last Friday…

Jeff, last I heard – about a month ago – it was still going to happen. Maybe someone else has more current information.

    Jeff-

The Padnah’s space is the one to the left of Chilango’s(formerly occupied by a bakery). There is an inspection notice and a notice of liquor license application in the window. Not much actual work done to the space yet though but someone on pf.o commented that Rodney was telling them about the city hoops he is still wrangling through.

Thanks for this info. I didn’t realize there was a space next to Chilango’s, I was obviously only looking in the newly-constructed spaces there.

But really I’m just posting this because the verification word was “breast” and I couldn’t pass on the opportunity. :)

What would he name a strip bar? Well, “Crotch” of course!
