Reader Survey 2013: Most Family Friendly Restaurant in Portland

Hopworks Urban Brewery

Before I get started, yes, I know some of you avoid "family friendly" restaurants like the plague. I understand that. Many people don't feel the same way, so just keep the nasty comments to yourself.I like my summary from 2012, so I'm just going to quote it - '"The place where friends and family meet", "Bring the kids!", "Tot Tuesday", "Free Soft Serve Ice Cream". These … [Read more...] about Reader Survey 2013: Most Family Friendly Restaurant in Portland

Toro Bravo Portland

Everybody has their own definition of what makes a great first date restaurant. Some go for romance, others for price... me, I'd want to know how adventurous my dates palate is, but wouldn't want to pick somewhere that would scare them if it turned out their interests were more pedestrian. I suppose it all comes down to what is important to you, and what your end goal is.In … [Read more...] about Reader Survey 2013: The Best First Date Restaurant in Portland

Reader Survey 2013: Worst Service in What is Otherwise a Good Restaurant

Angry mad senior

This is one that, as a business, you don't want to win. Every year I ask what restaurant is good, but has lousy service. I would think that the prize winning restaurant would do everything they can to get off of the list, but no, this one makes it Every Single Year! Even out of 456 votes, they were a chart topper again. Hello? Is anyone home? For the record, I've had issues … [Read more...] about Reader Survey 2013: Worst Service in What is Otherwise a Good Restaurant

Reader Survey 2013: Best Barbeque in Portland

Podnah's Prime Rib

I don't know why I bother. It is certainly not for the first place winner - it's always the same. This year, Smokehouse 21 on NW 21st street has picked up significant votes, rising from just 2.4% last year. No where else received enough votes to be statistically significant. I think I'll skip this question for the next few years.2012: Podnah's Pit BBQ, Russell St. BBQ, … [Read more...] about Reader Survey 2013: Best Barbeque in Portland

Reader Survey 2013: Best Sushi in Portland

Bamboo Sushi Portland

In my experience, Portland is a sushi town. We have lots of choices, but the winning choices always seem to come down to a favorite few. Those not mentioned here received few votes. This year, Bamboo Sushi once again sweeps away the competition. However, there is a wrinkle. This year Hokusei Sushi, a newcomer to the scene, tied with long-time favorite Murata for second place. … [Read more...] about Reader Survey 2013: Best Sushi in Portland
