Pix Press Release Fills in Bar Vivant Details

By PDX Food Dude Last Update January 20, 2014 6 Comments

    From the press release –

Pix Crosses the Pyrenees to Bar Vivant!

Portland’s two Pix French dessert destinations will head across town and over the Pyrenees July 31st. The centrally located new location at 2225 East Burnside will hae all the Pix picks our patrons have grown to know and love (Grench desserts, Champagne, macarons, monkeys) and more! The most significant addition will be Bar Vivant, a proper tapas bar where the txokoli is poured hight and the nampkins hit the floor. Pix will no longer be just a place for all things sweet. Bar Vivant will offer bite sized tapas/pintxos and a few larger raciones in a bar atmosphere similar to what one would find in San Sebastián — offerings on the bar, pintxo prices $1-$3, wine poured less and more oftern ($5/4oz Txakoli and tinto pours) and you will be required to toss those dirty napkins on the floor, consume standing up and socialize. This is a bar. A bar with good food.

    About the location

Our new locations sits on a double lot with half of it dedicated to outdoor space. Enjoy a plethora of ourdoor seating, play pétanque onour 13 meter court and if you feel the urge you can smoke on site under our covered deck. When inside go to the right for a sit down Pix café atmosphere or head left around the Pyrenees bar to Bar Vivant for some tapas and a glass of sherry.

    The Beverages

Pix is offering an extensive beverage list with the main focuses Champagne, Sherry, dessert wines and brandy at competitive pricing. Au contraire mon frère! Beer and cider is not an afterthought. And other sparkling, red, white and rosé from France, Spain and Oregon are well represented. Ask for your bottle in a porron for extra fun!

Buying a bottle? Ask for it in a porron!

Champagne — Over 150 offerings including older vintages, 20 Spécial Clubs plus large formats. Specializing in grower/producer Champagnes and we offer disgorgement dates on the menu where possible. Coteaux Champenois (still wine from Champagne) also available.

Sherry – Offering 27 Sherries in all styles by the glass and bottle. Two brands of En Rama available
    through November.

Still Wine – Here we focus on France, Spain and Oregon with little gems from here and there. Focus is on
small producers with sustainable practices. Bottles from $14 – $405 140 bottle selection

Dessert Wines – Port and Sauternes…check! Plus Vin de Paille and MacVin from the Jura, Pacherenc du
    Vic-Bilh, Tokaji, Banyuals and more.

Beer and Cider – Oregon and Belgium share the spotlight. Four drafts and about 30 bottles including a
couple 6L options. Ciders from France and Spain (also poured high like the Txakoli!)

    The Food
Now you can enjoy both sweet and savory indulgences at Pix / Bar Vivant with a taste of Spain and France.
And we are serving them both up until 2AM seven days a week. What could be better than churros & chocolat
    at 1AM?

    Pix
Pix has created individually constructed French desserts with multiple flavors and textures in each bite for
almost 10 years. In addition, we offer over 30 flavors of French Macarons (we are known for the Fleur de
Sel but don’t forget the Meka Leka Hi Meka Hiney Ho or Sherry Spanish Almond) housemade chocolates,
ice cream and pâtes de fruits. Don’t miss our version of Kinder Eggs!
    Bar Vivant

I said this was a bar, right? Ok, good. Bar Vivant will serve bite sized food snacks known in Spain as tapas
or pintxos. Many of the tapas will be representations of traditional Spanish bar food with some of our own
creations in the mix. Simple food of great quality for a more than reasonable price. For a real treat, let our
carving experts slice you a plate of the famed Jamón Ibérico de Bellota, carved to order at the bar. Also
look for Oysters on the half shell supplied by EaT Oyster Bar, a perfect pairing for those 150 Champagne
    options!

Dang, I thought I was the only guy in town with a porron… By the way, did anybody else notice that this reads like somebody wrote it while having a stroke? I swear, typos and grammatical errors are the new English…
