“Fin Restaurant” to Open in Former Sel Gris Space

Former Sel Gris owner Joan Dumas has partnered with Daniel Mondok's former sous-chef Trent Pierce to open a seafood concept called "Fin". The restaurant in the old Sel Gris space at 1852 SE Hawthorne will be reopening shortly. Food Writer Karen Brooks Dumped as Part of Oregonian Purge

Karen Brooks, dining editor for the Oregonian was laid off this week. As the newspaper industry has crumbled over the past few years, many long-term Oregonian employees have been offered excellent buyout packages. Apparently, Karen never took advantage of those offers.
