Seven in Seven Days

Seven Restaurants in Seven Days – We Can Make a Difference

It’s no secret that week after week of bad weather has left restaurants struggling. During the snow and ice storms, many were forced to close, and those that stayed open were almost empty.

Not only do they lose receipts, but food has to be thrown away, deliveries of new products can’t get to them, and staff are stuck trying to pay their bills on fewer hours/tips.

A few people were saying that 2016 would be a bad time for restaurants; that many would close. That prediction only partially came true. Some restaurants closed, but others opened, and the net result was we ended the year with more than we started with. However, that doesn’t mean that many weren’t struggling under the weight of higher product, labor and rent costs. Add in lost revenue from the ice and snow this year, and we may be facing a considerable number of closures in 2017. I’m getting lots of emails about restaurants who are struggling.

To do my part to help, I am going to seven restaurants in seven days. At this point I’m on my fourth day, and have managed to hit one for lunch/breakfast and dinner each day. I love that it has allowed me to get to some restaurants that I haven’t gotten a chance to try before like Hat Yai. One evening I visited two bars followed by Chizu and Tasty n Alder. It was tough, but somebody had to do it.

So… anyone else want to take the challenge? It doesn’t have to be fancy – lunch with counter service, food carts, they all count. Together we can make a difference. Follow my progress on Instagram.

Valentine’s Day Listings

On an unrelated topic, the Valentine’s Day listings have grown to almost 100 restaurants. Judging from the amount that are now booked (I am marking them as I hear), you don’t want to waste time or you’ll have trouble finding a reservation.
