SipSnapp Guides You Through Beer Lists

By PDX Food Dude Last Update September 3, 2014 Leave a Comment

Beer is not my strong point. I can  find my way through a wine or cocktail list without too many problems, but am usually lost when I am craving a beer. Now, a new smart phone application called SipSnapp helps guide you through the process of choosing a beer you will like from the list of available options.

The app accesses your camera to snap a photo of the beer list on any menu, and uses optical character recognition to provide you with a list of crowd sourced ratings and reviews from RateBeer.com.

In practice, the app worked quite well for me. I took a quick photo of several beer menus, and it quickly converted the image to text, identified each item and sent me back the ratings and characteristics for each one.

Best of all, SipSnapp is currently free for the iPhone, with an Android version coming soon.
