WOW!!! Unfortunately I believe this is more commonplace then we would imagine. If we could see a night vision film of most restaurants people would be amazed the cockroach activity.

Ever since that one Pixar movie came out I kinda like the critters. Kinda like cute, miniature nutria gastronomes.

This made me physically ill – ewww! Although, I was impressed by the rats’ athletic ability to jump up into the bunch of bananas. Perhaps someone could install a mini basketball hoop?

As someone who has worked in downtown Portland restaurants, I can tell you we have plenty of rats (and cockroaches) running around. Don’t kid yourselves folks; they are everywhere.

That was pretty extreme, but not that unusual really. To echo DinahDavis – I’ve seen rats in and lurking near Portland, Seattle, Vancouver BC, NYC, Cleveland and just about any restaurants and markets all over the States and the world.

Nasty? Yes. But unusual, Not at all.

I agree, rats, mice, ect. are not all that uncommon. They do carry diseases however. Washing your food with a produce wash is important. But here’s something that’s been bothering me. When I cut a sprig off of my rosemary plant, how do I know that the neighbor’s male cat that wanders the neighborhood (including my backyard) hasn’t sprayed it?

I think I mentioned the time I was walking past a downtown restaurant and saw a very similar thing through the window into the pantry. It was disgusting.

The restaurant was closed not long after by the health department. Can’t imagine why ;)
