From a press blast –
Portland, OR. Typhoon!, Inc. has announced the closure of Typhoon! on Broadway and the adjacent Bo’s RestoBar. The company has been under financial pressures due to the recent death of co-owner Steve Kline, restructuring due to issues with former hired management, and legal costs concerning recent accusations and law suits.
According to Bo Kline, Typhoon’s existing owner, “Typhoon! has built its culinary reputation upon the loyal, talented Thai cooks and chefs that have introduced the Pacific Northwest to exquisite tastes of Thai cuisine. I have been privileged to work with them in this effort. Typhoon’s cuisine has always had a strong following, and we look forward to growing our business again through our other locations.”
The 32 employees affected by this closure will be urged to apply to other Typhoon locations.
This follows months of mounting lawsuits and the death of co-owner Steve Kline earlier this month.
Tress says
I was at the space yesterday. At Typhoon!, the sign simply says that they’re remodeling. After a second glance, we noticed that the Typhoon! sign had been taken down. We walked down to Bo to discoverer that the space is still labeled as “Restobar” as always and although it looks the same inside, it is very overpriced American and some French fare inside. The back area has been closed off, leaving an odd seating area during lunch, but the $12 croque monsieur and the $11 hamburger were enough to turn us off. There was no explanation that Bo had closed. It was a very odd experience.
