Blue Star Donuts Expanding to Los Angeles

June 8, 2015 by PDX Food Dude Leave a Comment

Blue Star Donuts Valhorona ChocolateWhy yes, I’m playing catch up from vacation.

As I mentioned back in February, Blue Star Donuts is expanding once again, this time to Los Angeles. The new shop, opening in late July, is at 1142 Abbot Kinney Road in West LA, which puts it in the Venice Beach area. This follows the unveiling of their Camden’s Blue Donuts store in Tokyo a few months ago, which has been a huge success.

Blue Star was in a bit of a kerfuffle last week after receiving a “request” from Krispy Kreme that they stop using “Original Glazed” to describe one of their signature donuts. Apparently the name was trademarked. Who’d have thought? After a brief contest on Facebook, they have renamed it “Orxata Glaze”.
