Tabla Mediterranean Bistro Turns 11, Unveils New Name and New Menu

According to a press release today, long-time Italian favorite Tabla Mediterranean Bistro is changing its name to Tabla Pasta e Vino. From the PR, it looks like the bargain prix fixe three-course meal has been discontinued. If true, I think many regulars will be disappointed. The menu online doesn’t show that option anymore.

“After 11 years in business, Tabla Mediterranean Bistro is changing its name to Tabla Pasta e Vino. When asked about the change, Chef Berger commented: “Our focus is pasta, and has always been pasta. We want our name to truly reflect what we do, and we didn’t feel that Tabla Mediterranean Bistro accurately reflected our menu and philosophy.” In addition to the name change, Tabla is introducing a brand new menu. The new menu will focus on affordable and traditional Italian cuisine, with expanded pasta offerings. The menu will still feature a limited number of entrees, appetizers, salads, and desserts, but it will primarily be centered around rustic and seasonal pasta dishes. In addition, Tabla’s wine list boasts a selection of reasonably priced Italian and Northwest wines.

Tabla is honored to have served the Portland community for  the past 11 years, and wanted to give something back to their customers as a token of gratitude. Thus, the restaurant decided to giving away a bag of handmade pasta to every table during month of May. (Limited to one free bag of pasta per table, during dinner hours. Minimum order of $30 required to qualify for free pasta offer.)

*Tabla is now open for lunch, Tuesday through Friday from 11:30am to 3:00pm. The lunch menu changes daily, featuring seasonal pastas and salads. In addition, the restaurant just introduced a new lunch special, which features a half order of pasta, a half salad, and a glass of house wine for $15.

*In addition to Tabla’s standard pastas, Chef Berger has developed an entire line of gluten-free pastas, which are a fantastic option for anyone with gluten allergies or intolerance. Tabla offers gluten-free pasta substitutions for most pastas on the menu, and also packages and sells frozen and dried gluten-free pasta to take home.

All of that to say, Tabla is incredibly thankful for your support over the past 11 years. It’s been an incredible journey thus far, and we look forward to what the future holds. Thank you.”
