This Robber Is An Idiot!

June 5, 2012 by PDX Food Dude 12 Comments

I posted yesterday about a man, who, with the help of a 10(ish) year old boy, robbed The Meadow, a salt/candy/flower/etc. store. Today KGW News reported that the duo also robbed a food cart on NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. called The Pepper Box.

From KGW –

At the scene, the victim told officers that the man entered the shop with a child, who appeared to be about 10, said Sgt. Pete Simpson.

“The man grabbed the victim, covering her mouth and pinning her arms,” Simpson said. “The suspect told the victim he would hurt her if she yelled.”

Meanwhile, the child went behind the counter and stole money from the register. Both suspects escaped on foot. The victim was not seriously injured.

Not to make light of a potentially serious situation, but someone has to say this and you know me, I’m going to step up.

He’s an idiot!

Who picks a salt store for armed robbery? I mean, come on! Who picks a food cart for an armed robbery? Really? I figure the thinking went something like this: “Yeah, let’s hit that salt store. They will have piles of money! Ignore Little Big Burger next door which has been raking in cash all weekend – chefs are mean and have knives!” As a commenter said, “Was it take your kid to work day?” They will eventually catch this guy… I can just hear his first prison conversation… “So, dude… what did you get sent up for?” “Armed robbery” “Wow! Of a bank?” “No… a salt store and a food cart.”

At least we know at this point, that the man seems to have discerning taste. Anyone can knock over a 7-11! Local soap shops had better be on guard! Incense stores, hire guards!

I would guess that he robbed the salt store because there were no customers to interfere. Little Big Burger probably always has people in it.

Benequenes de chiapas, popcorn salt, cocaine, bath salts – probably all looks the same to some people these days

I live a couple blocks from Pepper Box, and we’ve had a bit of a crime spike in that hood lately, particularly a rash of car break-ins over the past couple weeks. They finally caught and arrested the meth-head couple responsible for all the sidewalk sand, but Summer’s on its way, and the bandits, desperados and ne’er-do-wells are coming out of hibernation…
