Reader Survey 2015: Best Pizza in Portland

By PDX Food Dude Last Update April 27, 2015 7 Comments

    Apizza Scholls - clam pie
    Apizza Scholls – clam pie

Who makes the best pizza in Portland? I know people who have practically come to blows over this very question. Every year the same restaurants tend to place in the top five, and I added some details about their pies. But not everyone wants a fancy pizza; sometimes you just need something quick and easy. For this reason I named all the restaurants that received over 2% of the votes.

    1423 pizza lovers cast votes:

    1. Apizza Scholls – 23% of the total

    Monday – Sunday 5 p.m. – 9:30 p.m., Saturday & Sunday lunch 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Apizza bakes thin Italian style pizzas. 11″ pies at lunch. No more than three ingredients per pie, including no more than two meats per pie. All pies are 18 inches. No arguments. You can see the menu options and the reservation information on their website. $20 – $26.00.

Lovely’s Fifty Fifty. Especially the margherita (if it’s not on the menu, ask for it).

I got that photo directly from Apizza, so yes, it is genuine. It sounds like they may not be serving it these days – it would be very seasonal.

Muddy Rudder Public House in Sellwood has pretty nice pies, too. And a great rotating selection of regional brews and most nights some kind of interesting live music.

People need to check out East Glisan Pizza. They don’t defeat the top two of the list but definitely challenge 3 onward. Plus $1 pizza slices 10pm to close.

Baby Doll on SE Stark. It’s a block away from Pizzicato but I much prefer it. I’d rank it at #6 or 7 above.
